Six Wits alumni received National Orders for major contributions across Africa, whilst other researchers revealed that many newborn deaths from infections in South African hospitals could be prevented through better care. Wits also expanded its global partnership with University College London to boost research in health, climate and artificial intelligence. Professor Helen Rees was appointed Chair of the International Vaccine Institute and Professor Vishwas Satgar launched a powerful climate exhibition highlighting South Africa’s growing environmental crisis.
